Eight Things To Do in Warwickshire this November

November can be a funny month. The evenings are drawing in and the weather is often not particularly pleasant. Halloween and Bonfire Night are done and dusted too but it’s a little early to start the Christmas festivities. But it can be a great month for getting out and about! Attractions and places of interest are often a bit quieter as it’s the lull before the Christmas storm, and the last colours of autumn are simply stunning before the onset of winter.

Here’s our ideas for eight great things to do across Warwickshire this November:

1. Enjoy the Great British Model Railway Show

9th and 10th November 2019

Enjoy a family-friendly weekend at the Great British Model Railway Show at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

With up to 30 railway layouts, modelling demonstrations including the ‘Hogwarts Express’ provided by show sponsors Hornby Hobbies and stands selling everything from complete train sets to scenic materials it promise to be a fun day out for enthusiasts and families alike.

2. A Trip to the Theatre

The autumn is a great time to go to the theatre – what better way to spend a dark evening or dreary afternoon! And there is plenty to choose from at Stratford-upon-Avon’s Royal Shakespeare Theatre this November.

David Walliams’ heart-warming comedy ‘The Boy in the Dress’ comes to the stage for the first time in a musical with new songs from Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers. About a boy who is a little different its one for all the family. More info and tickets here.

3. Take part in a Gin Tasting

9th November

A fantastic way to spend a Saturday evening – tasting Gin in the medieval Great Hall at Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick!

Featuring local Warwickshire Gin as well as other speciality Gins. Tickets are £20 and include entry to the Great Hall, a Gin glass, three sample drinks from Warwickshire Gin Company plus four tokens to spend on additional Gin… or other drinks and food if you prefer!

4. Go to Shakespeare’s Sunday School

Discover more about Shakespeare’s work, life and times at one of the fascinating talks held at Shakespeare’s New Place.

Running every Sunday (except 15th December) from now until February the talks will cover a range of different topics from understanding the design of New Place to the role that Shakespeare has played in science fiction.

5. Get Crafty at a Textile Fair

16th and 17th November

Textile Fair at Compton Verney Warwickshire

A firm favourite in the Compton Verney calendar, their craft fair returns this November!

Browse an impressive range of stalls – embroidery, felt work, printing and other techniques all on offer. A great place to start your Christmas shopping!

And, if you are feeling crafty, you can join the Leamington Embroiderers Guild for drop-in sessions and discover the decorative ways that you can incorporate buttons into your textile work.

6. Enjoy Autumn in a Victorian Garden

14th November

Autumn can be a beautiful time to be outside and Hill Close Gardens make it even more so!

Their monthly drop-in session fro pre-schoolers is ‘All About Autumn’ this month. Explore the gardens, take part in art and craft activities, digging, planting and much more besides.

Most of the activities are outside so dress appropriately.

And of course, if you don’t have little ones, any crisp autumn day will be enjoyable at Hill Close Gardens.

7. Get in the Thanksgiving Spirit

29th November

Test your knowledge on all things American and celebrate Thanksgiving in the ‘Thanksgiving Quiz’ at Hall’s Croft in Stratford-upon-Avon.

With plenty of American themed prizes to be won, a welcome drink on arrival and food and drink available thoughout the evening it should be good fun!

8. Spend Time At Forest School

Compton Verney Park in Warwickshire

Compton Verney’s weekly forest school for under 5s is the ideal activity for burning off some energy and getting back to nature this November.

Excite all the senses as you smell, touch and take part in activities.

For those without children the grounds of Compton Verney are a stunning place for an autumnal stroll. And their cafe, Compton Kitchen, is the perfect place to relax afterwards!
