Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year especially for the little folk. The mix of tradition, wonder and, of course, presents makes it a truly magical time. And there is plethora of great events happening across the county throughout December that will be sure to get the kids (and you!) in the festive spirit, and help you to have a wonderful family Christmas in Warwickshire!

Meet Father Christmas

A staple of any family Christmas!

Although he’s awfully busy, Father Christmas is making quite a few appearances across Warwickshire over the next few weeks. Here’s a some of the places you’ll find him:

Stoneleigh Abbey Christmas Fair – 1st December
Santa will be in his grotto at Stoneleigh Christmas Fair. Come and see him and browse the various stalls for some lovely crafts, unique Christmas gifts, homemade decorations and delicious food treats. Full details here.

Meet Father Christmas and his Reindeer at Compton Verney – 1st and 8th December
Father Christmas will be enjoying a couple of days at Compton Verney. He will have his reindeer with him – come and say hello and give them a pet too! There’s also lots of other Christmassy activities taking place including storytime, crafts and performances – a lovely festive day out! Full details here.

Christmas at Kenilworth Castle – 7th and 8th December
Step back in time to a nostalgic family Noel at Kenilworth Castle! Festive storytelling, toy making and a castle jester will keep you entertained and you can also book ‘An Audience with Father Christmas’ and meet the man himself. Full details here.

Meet Father Christmas at Hall’s Croft – 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th December
Father and Mrs Christmas will be visiting Hall’s Croft this December. Book a ticket to see him and receive a present with a personalised name tag and decorate some Christmas biscuits. Full details here.

Stories with Santa at Warwick Castle – Weekends from 30th November and Daily from 18th-24th December
Settle down for a story with Santa as part of Warwick Castle’s ‘Christmas at the Castle. A 20-minute group experience with Mr & Mrs Claus and their merry elves. Full details here.

Christmas Crafts

There’s nothing like some quality family crafting time! Take a look at where you can join in with some Christmas Crafts below:

Christmas Craft Weekends at the British Motor Museum – Weekends from 7th – 22nd December
Come along to the British Motor Museum and make a Robin, Snowman or Father Christmas to go on pullback wheels and race them along the Festive race track. Full details here.

Family Christmas Craft Workshop at Hill Close Gardens – 10th December

The Festival of Lost & Found at Shakespeare’s New Place – 11th to 15th December
Talking Birds pulls together an immersive, festive theatrical experience for all the family – whatever the weather. Friendly showpeople unravel two and a half centuries of stories and piece together the clues, enlisting your help to bring to life the greatest show that never happened! Full details here.

My Shadow and Me: Shadow Puppetry at Compton Verney – 15th December
Watch in amazement as a story unfolds out of nothing but darkness and light. One person (and his shadow) meet and go on an incredible, imaginative, shadowy journey that will astonish young audiences with humour and shadow magic! Full details here.

Big Bangs & Brass Band at Compton Verney – 15th December
Hear the Royal Spa Brass band perform Christmas classics in the Chapel, before heading to the Courtyard for a celebratory fireworks display. Full details here.

A Christmas Sing-a-long at Shakespeare’s New Place – 21st and 24th December
A special Makaton  Christmas sing-a-long including ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. Come dressed in your best Christmas outfit as there is a prize for the most festive person! Full details here.

Carols at the Castle at Warwick Castle – 21st December
Carols at Warwick Castle is held annually in the run up to Christmas. It is a great opportunity for families and people of all ages to get together and join in singing carols led by the excellent choir of St Mary’s and accompanied by the fantastic Royal Spa Brass. Full details here.
